... an earthquake!
That was a weird experience! I've experienced a tremor before now, but last night was surreal: everything rumbled and shook ... and carried on rumbling and shaking for some time. It was like the floor was rippling under you. A huge chunk of England and part of Wales felt the quake last night (around 1.00am) but, thankfully, minimal damage considering that at 5.2 it wasn't insignificant.
An earthquake this size happens so rarely in the UK that it was quite a surprise to learn that :"The BGS records approximately 200 earthquakes in the UK each year on its monitoring stations.
Approximately 25 earthquakes in the UK are felt by people each year."
I can only begin to imagine what it must be like for people who experience severe quakes or who live in earthquake-prone zones.
