The connection has timed out

503 Service not available

Is it me or is dA's service shite lately?

I ask because haven't seen much teeth-gnashing or ranting from people lately and my net connection is still as fast as ever on other sites. The problems seem to get worse from around 6.00pm, UK time.

Is it just me or does dA have time-outs every fifteen minutes? I swear the problems occur most about +/-2min at every :00, :15, :30 and :45 interval. The rest of the time it's fine. Slow and bogged down, but fine.

Time-outs I'm used to. What I'm most angry about is that the print deviations I've unstored aren't appearing in my gallery. There were some things I accidentally stored a month ago that I immediately unstored, but even they aren't in the main gallery. But, if I run the gallery statistics, I'm informed that I have over 70 deviations. However, over ~30 show up in the actual gallery. If it was only deviations, I would be more forgiving, but I have a print account that I would like to have available. I've even resubmitted some of the prints to trigger something with the main gallery, but to no avail. They pass inspection, but the main deviation is still AWOL. However, if I follow a direct link to the deviation, I can see it.

All right. I'll stop ranting now. I'm not even supposed to be here. ;)

It seems to have timeouts all the bloody time (though - and I hesitate to say this in case it put the kybosh on ;)) it's actually working OK at the moment

The non-apperarance of deviations in your gallery must been down to server lag and/or unsynchronised servers. I notice odd stuff when browsing the category galleries which would fit in with that.

And "supposed to be" be buggered: I'm very glad to see you here

I've seen that the "unstore deviation" issue has been on the bug list for quite some time. Still, a month? That seems excessive even for an unsynched servers issue.

I'm glad your glad to see me  , but due to recent events, I've substantially limited my time online when under the clairejones username. Although that doesn't stop me from lurking around all the time. :ninja: I thought of getting a new username, but figured that I would probably be found out in short order. Instead, I've spent a lot of time recoding one of my sites and making loads of icons, of all things. I'm kind of devastated right now and feel as though I've lost everything I've worked so hard for these past couple of years. I'm sure I'll figure out something else to do with my time. I know that sounds cryptic, but June was a really bad month.

I am sorry you've had such a bad time  Wish there was something I could do to help make things a bit better for you.

If you look at the "Weekly Bug List", you'll see stuff that's been there for ever :( [link]

I've almost given up doing anything on dA besides uploading. The time outs are unbearable (dial-up and a connection by firefox through AOL make it even worse) There are days i wonder why i bother, but then i get homesick for good ol' deviantART, and so back i come.

I know what you mean. I left dA altogether late last year because I was so hacked off with the sorry state of affairs ... but I came back about 4 or 5 months later to what, as one dA friend called it, my "dysfunctional family" ;) Sadly, it is still the largest and most active fractal community I've found on the net, so it's a case of grit my teeth and keep plugging away!

Connection is really sucksfull here too. I even made a speed test the other day to make sure that my provider hadn't reduced speed but it's perfectly ok. I start wondering why I should pay for high speed as long as I spend so much time on dA. I suppose I couldn't be slower with a 56k dial up.

I find myself doing a lot of speed tests lately, too ... for the same reasons as you. I just end up with lots of tabs open and hope that some of them actually get around to loading

Right now, the worst thing is trying to reply to comments in my message centre when the **** site doesn't even have the decency to timeout, it just keeps on and on and on and on , so that the only solution is to refresh th page and completely lose whatever's been typed :pissedoff:

I think they've been installing new servers, that nay have caused some glitches. :fingerscrossed: that that's ALL it was!
