Well, uh, technically those are all fractals. I've looked into some of what Mandelbrot has written about fractals and how the real world is represented with fractal geometry and not stereotypical Euclidean mathematics. Very interesting stuff. And I love some of his famous quotes. I know there's been some recent talk about how the universe is just one big fractal, too. I'm still waiting impatiently to get my hands on some of Mandelbrot's books. The man is a literal genius to figure some of this stuff out, given that we can only prove his theories with computer technology.

This image blows me away because it looks so much like a close-up of a standard Mandelbrot.

Thanks for the links, Gill, both sites are really great and the photos really are mind-blowing. Once we had a TV station which showed at night pictures taken from satelite combined with wonderful music - when I couldn't sleep a made hot chocolate and watched these great show sometimes for one or two hours. If you watch something like that long enough and you let fall yourself into it, you can get the most weird feelings...not bad feelings, only difficult to describe even in my language. Crazy but great....lol

Glad you enjoyed the links, I love them :) Have you seen this "Earth at night from space" pic? [link]

I know what you mean about falling into pictures & music, I do it myself watching any of the Quatsi trilogy ;)

This is a great form of art, and all images there remind me of fractals and different fractal techniques. Maybe I'm subconsciously inclined to perceive them as fractals or I'm having too much Apo these days! Thanks for sharing, Gill!

My god I could get lost in those images. For hours. Days. My favorites were the camel caravans, especially the first 2 & the white horse shot.
