I dare say many of you will have already read one or both of these, but if not DO IT NOW!
News Article "Art Theft" by *
LaPurr [link]*
LaPurr's Journal
[link]Apart from some of the spurious points being put forward by some dA members, the thing which should really concern you are these two quotes from a dA admin:
"The evidence offered by *LaPurr seemed to indicate that the alleged 'thief' was simply plugging in numbers and parameters into a fractal generating program which were obtained elsewhere.
This is not considered theft."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Here's the problem-
We're dealing in fractal generators here. If six people take the same program, put in the same numbers they all get the same mathematically spawned image; it's the way these programs work.
Because we're dealing with mathematically plotted designs we simply cannot classify them in the same manner as we do hand drawn or painstakingly modeled works. You can, by sheer chance, plug in the necessary data to duplicate another person's fractal without ever having laid eyes upon it before. Claims of theft simply don't work in this genre when dealing with a raw fractal image."Please go & add your comments and let the dA admins know they are
wrong.
I would be equally upset and you can expect that there will be a re-clarification on this entire matter and also a public apology forthcoming.
But, all the same, I did go in and add my two cents, however incoherent they were.
If it's so simple to reproduce an image from UF, please download the trial version of UF from here: [link] and punch in the numbers to recreate exactly this image:
It's a simple enough fractal...only 30 layers. I'll be right here when you finish. Thanks.
I'll let you know where I'll be posting my images next, 'K?
Actually, I don't have to worry...that person hasn't opened my last three notes, the coward.
They've been answering Denise's notes, so they're ignoring me.
Arrogance or fear?
Maybe it's time for a pompous note! Give me lessons?
